The uncapped Sean Abbott and Cameron Boyce have been named in Australia's squad for next month's one-off Twenty20 International against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.

Batsman Aaron Finch has been appointed captain in the absence of the outgoing George Bailey, who resigned from the position late last week.

Seamer Abbott and leg-spinner Boyce have graduated to the international fold on the back of superb stretches of form at domestic limited-overs level.

Fast bowler James Pattinson, who has not played intentional cricket since October 2012 due to injury, has been recalled.

"Pat has worked incredibly hard to come back from injury. We would love to see him perform well in the UAE and put his hand up for further opportunities this summer. We see Pat as a long-term prospect for Australian cricket and it is exciting to see him back playing again," said national selector Rod Marsh.

"Cameron impressed recently in the Australia A series and will get his chance to represent Australia in a one-off T20 International. He will gain great experience playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in India during the Champions League."

The sole T20I will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 5 October – and will be followed by three ODIs and two Tests.

T20I squad: Aaron Finch (captain), David Warner, Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Brad Haddin, James Faulkner, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Kane Richardson, Cameron Boyce.
