Former Test coach Sarwar Imran has been named Bangladesh's assistant coach for the brief series against India next month.

Former Test coach Sarwar Imran has been named Bangladesh's assistant coach for the brief series against India next month.

The country recently hired erstwhile Sri Lanka batsman Chandika Hathurusingha as head coach – and ex-Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak as bowling coach.

"We have appointed Imran as assistant coach for the upcoming India series. "Since Hathurusingha arrives on June 10, Imran will begin the training from Monday," Bangladesh Cricket Board operations committee Akram Khan told <i>ESPNcricinfo</i>.

"He has been Bangladesh's coach previously. He will be with the team till the India series, and then we will take it from there. "

Sarwar was head coach in 2000 and again in 2003 – and has acted as bowling coach on numerous occasions. Bangladesh and India will meet for three ODIs at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur between 15 and 19 June.
