Chandimal, Randiv recalled for ODI series
Sri Lanka have recalled spinner Suraj Randiv to the ODI squad three years after he last played a one-dayer for them, needing to bolster their spin sticks in the absence of suspended Sachithra Senanayake.
Sri Lanka have recalled spinner Suraj Randiv to the ODI squad three years after he last played a one-dayer for them, needing to bolster their spin sticks in the absence of suspended Sachithra Senanayake.
Randiv, who last played an ODI in 2011, and Seekugge Prasana are the spinners added, with Rangana Herath obviously the premier. Senanayake was suspended due to an illegal bowling action and is out working on his technique.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Chandimal has been recalled after impressive for the A side, while Dhammika Prasad has kept his place after an impressive Test series. Lasith Malinga also returns to the ranks, not being a Test player.
Fans will also be pleased to see both Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara in action, especially after the former's emotional farewell to the Test arena this week in Colombo. The veteran pair are still prime picks for ODIs though.
