Cook retained as ODI skipper

England have retained Alastair Cook as captain of the One Day International (ODI) squad that will tour Sri Lanka later this year.

After weeks of speculation about the future of Cook in the 50-over game ahead of the World Cup next year, the England selectors have decided to keep the Essex opener on as captain.

The squad also includes Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor, who is expect to play in his first ODI since September last year against the Islanders, while Cook’s Essex team-mate Rave Bopara has also received a re-call.

The 16-man squad leaves for Sri Lanka on November 16.
