The uncapped Joe Burns has been added to Australia's squad for Wednesday's one-off Twenty20 International against the West Indies in Brisbane.
The 23-year-old Burns, who clinched the country's Young Cricketer of the Year award earlier this year, will act as cover for the injured Adam Voges.
Voges sustained a hamstring injury during Sunday's fifth and final ODI against the same opposition in Melbourne, where he scored a maiden international century in a 17-run win - and five-nil series win - for the hosts.
"Joe Burns, the 23-year-old Queensland batsman, has been placed on standby for Adam Voges for the match at the Gabba on Wednesday," said national selector John Inverarity.
"Joe has shown impressive form throughout this season and was deservedly awarded the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award at the Allan Border Medal and his good form has also resulted in selection for Australia A against the England Lions in their five-match series, starting this Saturday."
