Batsman Jonny Bairstow will miss England's limited-overs tour of India due to family reasons.
Bairstow left the country before the second and final Twenty20 International in December, and his compassionate leave has been extended for the duration of the five-fixture ODIs series in January.
The uncapped Joe Root has been called up as Bairstow's replacement, while the talented Jos Buttler will act as first-choice wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter's understudy.
The 23-year-old Bairstow is the third player to be withdrawn from the original touring party, joining the rested James Anderson and Jonathan Trott. He is, however, expected to be named in the squad for the tour of New Zealand later next year.
The first ODI gets underway in Rajkot on 11 January.
