Wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara's return from injury was marked by a position in the Emerging XI that will play a three-day tour fixture against Bangladesh.
Sangakkara has not played competitive cricket since fracturing a finger in late December 2012. Spinner Akila Dananjaya, though, was left out of the squad after suffering a similar injury.
"I've started batting in the nets this week and have had a good week of practice, so the match against Bangladesh is a good opportunity to get some match practice. As long as I pull through okay, I will play in the Galle Test," said Sangakkara.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, will be without batsman Shahriar Nafees for the duration of the two-Test series, which gets underway in Galle on 8 March. Nafees suffered a hand injury earlier this month - and is the third player to be sidleined from the tour.
Spinner Enamul Haque junior and batsman Naeem Islam were withdrawn due to leg injuries, while all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was not considered for selection - and instead underwent calf surgery.
"Shahriar had a freak accident at home couple of days ago, so he has withdrawn from the tour. He will be border-line for the first Test, so we want to ensure that we go into the Test series with a settled group, so Mohammad Ashraful will replace him," concluded coach Shane Jurgensen.
