Two late wickets for Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath put the pressure on Bangladesh in the second Test in Colombo, as they reached stumps on day three on 158 for four, holding a lead of just 52 runs.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 346 – for a lead of 106 – in response to Bangladesh's 240 shortly before lunch, and the Tigers did well initially to chase down the score for little damage, reaching 143 for two before Herath struck.

Mominul Haque, who had recorded a half century in the first innings, was still in the middle on 36, holding the knock together after the well-set openers failed to solidify the chase. Tamim Iqbal had made 59, while Jahurul Islam was out for 48.

Sri Lanka had started the day on 294 for six, with Kumar Sangakkara unbeaten on 127. He could only add 12 runs to his tally though, before falling to Abul Hasan, caught behind by Mushfiqur Rahim.

Impressive spinner Sohag Gazi took two tail wickets as Sri Lanka failed to add substantial runs to their score in the morning session. The Tigers openers then put on 91 for the first wicket, before Shaminda Eranga bowled Tamim.

Herath had removed Jahurul, but then he added two quick strikes, late in the day to his figures, bowling both Mohammad Ashraful and Mahmudullah in the same over, off consecutive balls.
