New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor will take no further part in his team's series against Zimbabwe due to a calf injury.

Taylor suffered the injury while turning for a run on day two of the Black Caps' one-off Test against the men from Southern Africa. The 27-year-old received attention on the field before being forced to retire on 122. It has since been confirmed that he suffered a Grade Two tear of his right calf.

"While it is early days, our target is to have Ross available for the one day series against South Africa in late February," said New Zealand physiotherapist Paul Close.

After the Test, the two teams will do battle in three one-dayers and two T20 clashes.
