Cricket South Africa on Wednesday added fast bowler Kyle Abbott to the Proteas' squad for the five-match ODI series against Pakistan next month, acting as cover for the injured Morne Morkel.
"Morne Morkel's recovery from his hamstring injury is still a work in progress," commented CSA selection convener Andrew Hudson, "and we consider it prudent to provide extra depth to our fast bowling resources."
Abbott shot to prominence in the third Test against Pakistan in Centurion, taking seven wickets in the first innings and ending his debut Test with nine wickets. He got his chance after taking 49 wickets in nine four-day domestic matches.
