Jimmy Adams and Sean Ervine shared an unbroken stand of 110 in 13 overs as Hampshire Hawks crushed Sussex Sharks with 23 balls to spare at the Rose Bowl.
Sussex never recovered after a devastating start from teenage medium pacer Hamza Riazuddin (three for 15) who reduced Michael Yardy's men to 27 for three, before 63 from Dwayne Smith helped them post 133 for eight.
Adams and Ervine then came together at 27 for one and were largely untroubled as they piled on the runs to see their side home by nine wickets.
Riazuddin dismissed the Sussex top three - Chris Nash, Murray Goodwin and Luke Wright - in an impressive opening spell.
Riazuddin bowled Goodwin for 16 and next ball did the same to Wright before having Nash caught in the deep.
The only partnership of substance in the Sussex innings came from Ed Joyce and West Indian Smith.
Smith only returned to Sussex over the weekend after his Indian Premier League club Deccan Chargers decided they did not need him for the final.
Smith and Joyce put on 67 for the fourth wicket before Imran Tahir removed Joyce.
Smith faced 46 balls, hitting a six off Ervine and five fours, before he was run out by Dominic Cork.
Sussex subsided quickly after that with the evergreen Cork taking three for 30.
Hampshire, watched by a crowd of around 6,000, never looked likely to fail in their chase.
Michael Lumb hit five fours in a rapid 21 before he had his leg stump knocked back by Smith.
Lumb's dismissal proved to be Sussex's only success as Adams and Ervine took control.
Adams reverse swept Will Beer for six and then struck Nash high onto the terraces over mid-wicket for another as Hampshire reached 100 for one in only 10 overs.
The century partnership for the second wicket came in 12 overs and although Yardy used seven bowlers, none of them could stem the flow of runs.
At the conclusion Adams was 68 not out and Ervine unbeaten with 42.
