Scotland avenged Tuesday's defeat by Canada with a five-wicket win today to draw their two-match one-day series 1-1.

In Aberdeen yesterday the Scots failed to defend their second-highest one-day total as they crashed to a six-wicket defeat.

They bounced back at Mannofield Park, however, winning with 16 balls to spare.

Gordon Drummond set the tone for the hosts with four for 41 this morning as Canada managed 250 for nine after opting to bat.

Only Sunil Dhaniram (92) managed more than 35 for the North Americans, hitting eight fours in an accomplished 85-ball innings which held Canada together.

Captain Gavin Hamilton seized the initiative as Scotland set about their target - with a composed 86-ball 59 before being caught by his opposite number Ashish Bagai off Khurram Chohan.

Hamilton's fellow top-order batsmen failed to produce anything of substance until Ryan Watson and Neil McCallum stepped up to the plate.

Watson came in when Hamilton was dismissed and made an excellent 74 off 98 balls, and McCallum (79no) was to hit the winning runs.
