A determined Sri Lanka Development XI side held on for a draw against New Zealand on the third and final day of the warm-up match in Colombo.
After resuming on 437 for seven, the Black Caps added a further 56 runs to their overnight total - with skipper Daniel Vettori making 106 - as they were dismissed for 493, a lead of 334.
The Sri Lankans made a strong start to their second innings with a 74-run partnership between Tharanga Paranavitana and Mahela Udawatte before Udawatte was dismissed by Jacob Oram for 47.
Oram and Vettori then combined to take three quick wickets to reduce the hosts to 157 for five.
But Nadeera Nawela anchored a middle order fightback with his unbeaten 64 helping the Sri Lankans to 257 for six by the close to deny the visitors.
Oram finished with three for 32 off 12 overs and Vettori two for 69 off 23 overs.
New Zealand play another three-day tour match against a Sri Lankan XI, starting on Wednesday.
The first Test begins in Galle on August 18.
