Craig Kieswetter hit 81 and Marcus Trescothick 44 as Somerset beat Hampshire by six wickets to move up to second in NatWest Pro40 Division One.

Chasing the hosts' 204 for seven - set up by Dimitri Mascarenhas' late 43 not out off 28 balls - the two openers put on 78 in 10 overs.

Kieswetter's was the last wicket to fall, by which time Somerset were well on their way to victory and it was eventually secured with seven overs to spare.

Bottom side Nottinghamshire fell five runs short of their 225 target in a reduced 35-overs-a-side match at Durham.

Ben Harmison hit 67 off 64 balls and Phil Mustard 61 off 48 as the hosts posted 224 for six and despite Mark Wagh's 56 and Luke Fletcher's unbeaten 40 Nottinghamshire closed on 220 for nine.

In Division Two, leaders Kent lost by 59 runs to Warwickshire after being bowled out for 224.

Neil Carter's 103 off just 66 balls - including six sixes and 13 fours - was halted only by injury as the visitors made 283 for six.

Kent slipped to 38 for three and despite 63 from Geraint Jones, 46 from Darren Stevens and 45 from James Tredwell they were bowled out in the 36th over.

Middlesex took advantage to go top with a 50-run victory over Derbyshire thanks to a century from Nick Compton and a good all-round bowling performance.

Northamptonshire hammered Surrey by eight wickets after knocking off a victory target of 135 for the loss of two wickets with more than 24 overs to spare.
