Australia captain Ricky Ponting is looking to his bowlers to come good one final time against India in Mumbai, as he looks to end the seven-match one-day international series on a high.

Australia have already won the series, taking an unassailable 4-2 lead going into the final match at the DY Patil Stadium.

Australia secured victories in three close games, winning two of them by four and three runs respectively, and Ponting believes his bowlers have been the difference.

"We want to end the series on a positive note," Ponting said.

"In the last few weeks we have played excellent cricket and even though the series have been decided, it is not over yet.

"For us, a 5-2 margin sounds a lot better than 4-3 and we would like to end the series with a win.

"I think the deciding factor in this series was our bowling.

"Our bowlers have done a great job, they have bowled consistently well against the Indian batsmen.

"In all the three close matches, we were bowling last and our bowlers did a fine job.

"Ever since Doug Bollinger joined the team, he hasn't set a foot wrong.

"Early in the series, Peter Siddle also bowled very well and kept Sachin (Tendulkar) quiet for a while.

"I hope our bowlers will do the same."

Australia's frontline bowlers - Brett Lee, James Hopes, Siddle and Moises Henriques - were all forced to return home early from this tour due to injury.

Ponting was pleased with the way the replacements have performed.

"It goes to say a lot about the individual players," he said.

"When a player gets an opportunity to play for Australia, he gives his best every time he takes to the ground.

"In our team all the players have performed consistently well and, in fact, some of our players have performed better than the Indians have.

"Winning the series is a great achievement and I must say that both players and coaching staff have done a great job.

"All of a sudden we had a side that looked very inexperienced, but now we are starting to take shape.

"There's a World Cup 12 months away that we're starting to build towards and this squad we've used over the recent past should keep us in really good shape."

Ponting rated the series victory alongside Australia's World Cup triumph and the Champions Trophy victories and believes the series was a great testament to the one-day format.

"Our guys have been able to hold their nerve well and we have been able to apply pressure on the India team at the right time," he said.

"I would rate this series triumph alongside the World Cup and Champions Trophy victories.

"In fact, both Champions Trophy and this series have shown that ODIs can stand on their own and they have no threat from Twenty20 cricket."
