Pakistan were robbed of valuable batting practice as wet weather claimed most of the opening day of the tourists' two-day warm-up match against Worcestershire.

The players managed to squeeze in a mere 18.1 overs amidst intermittent showers, with Azhar Ali and Yasir Hameed the men to fall in a score of 51 for two at stumps on Friday.

Batting first was always going to be stand-in captain Kamran Akmal's choice after winning the toss, with openers Ali and Hameed failing to cash in on the decision to rest first-choice openers Salman Butt and Imran Farhat.

The duo added 39 runs for the first wicket before right-hander Ali was run out on 19. Hameed perished soon thereafter, removed for 27 by Pears seamer Chris Russell.

All out for 88 and then 80 in first and second Test losses to England at Trent Bridge and Edgbaston respectively, coach Waqar Younis will hope Mum Nature's sodden mood steers clear of New Road come Saturday.

Mohammad Yousuf (two not out), Umar Amin (one not out) and the rest of the brittle order must enjoy as much time at the crease as possible if they hope to bounce back in the third Test, which kicks off at The Oval on August 18.
