Paul Collingwood is thirsty for Ashes revenge against Australia this summer, and says he has full belief he can score runs against the old enemy.
The Durham man played in just the final Test of the victorious 2005 series in England, but then suffered in the 5-0 whitewash Down Under in his first full Ashes series.
Collingwood did enjoy hitting a double century in Adelaide, but England still contrived to lose that match to sum up their woes in Australia under captain Andrew Flintoff.
Although the Aussies returning to England conjures up memories of 2005, Collingwood says the hurt of a whitewash is still going strong, and the quest for revenge will be a big motivation when England run out at Cardiff for the first Test next Wednesday.
"Of course there is an element of revenge - but the ultimate revenge would be winning back the Ashes," Collingwood told The Sun.
"The motivation is there for us. It's the Australians up again and we want those Ashes back."
Collingwood was famously sledged by Shane Warne in Australia for his lack of playing time in 2005, but his double century in Adelaide has given him belief he can mix it with the best side in the world.
Belief is a key word for Collingwood, as he says it plays a major part in performing during the high pressure of an Ashes summer.
"I do think playing in the Ashes is about belief," he added. "And doing well against Australia in the past, and scoring that double ton, does give me that.
"I have a lot of confidence from a personal point of view. I would like to think I can do it again.
"I'm ambitious enough say I want another double ton and no one has done it for a while. Hopefully the wickets play well enough to have a chance to do that."
