Jerome Taylor is in a bullish mood ahead of the West Indies' first Test against Australia and the speedster is confident that the Aussies can be beaten.
Australia currently hold the Frank Worrell Trophy after thumping the West Indies 2-0 during the series in the Caribbean last year, but none of the hosts' star performers from the tournament will feature in this year's series opener.
Brett Lee, Andrew Symonds and Stuart Clark are all out of the match at the 'Gabba, starting on Thursday, and Taylor believes that the pressure is on Australia.
"Australia have a lot of firepower but they are looking like they are beatable," Taylor told AAP.
"We are conditioned in our minds to go out and put up a good fight and to take it to the Australians. The pressure should not be on us. If we're the underdogs we're not expected to win but we will be going out there to put up a big show."
The tourists' biggest task will be taking 20 wickets and they struggled to do so during their tour match last week after Queensland amassed 617 for seven before declaring.
The West Indies will have to get by without the experience of Fidel Edwards, who was ruled out of the tour of Australia due to injury. Edwards also had his new contract withheld by the WICB due to his injury so the onus will be on Taylor to spearhead the inexperienced attack.
"I can't wait to get on the deck," Taylor said. "As a fast bowler, that's my thing, that's my job and I want to get into action. If there is any life in the wicket it's a plus for us because back home in the Caribbean we are accustomed to very flat and low wickets."
The tourists will also be boosted by the return of Chris Gayle who'll join them in time for the first Test in Brisbane after flying back to Jamaica to visit his sick mother and Taylor is very excited to be playing next to his fellow Jamaican.
"He is a great player for us and should we have gone down the line of losing him for this Test, it would have been a great loss," Taylor said.
"It's nice to know he is on his way back. Personally for me it's great because we are both from Jamaica and I work with him a lot and he is a boost to the players."
