I suspect that the main reason Harmison was called up was so that the selectors and coach could have a closer look at him. As has often been stated, he has a poor record at Edgbaston, so he would have had to have been bowling exceptionally well to get a start. Expect him to play in the next test if SA continue to amass large totals.

Having put him in the squad, to now leave him out of the team has got to be the worst possible decision. Harmison is psychologically suspect at the best of times. To build up his hopes and then cast him aside will probably be the breaking of him. I just do not understand the logic! Probably not much logic applied mind you...

Harmison is big enough and ugly enough to bounce back from that, hes a very good bowler, and if he wants a place back, he has got to keep taking wickets for Durham, if hes doing that and bowling at 90+mph then he wil be back in, sidebottom is a good bowler but to have him and jimmy in the same team i think is pushing it, you need a Harmison or Jones in to get the speed gun up and over 90mph with Flintoff on a regular basis
