Derbyshire wrapped up their second LV County Championship Division Two victory of the season before lunch on the third day when Worcestershire collapsed alarmingly to lose by an innings and 95 runs.

Worcestershire started the day on 18 for one, 187 runs behind, but they folded in 25 overs and were bowled out 10 minutes before lunch for 110.

Only four batsmen made double figures as Derbyshire's seam attack cut through the top order with Graham Wagg striking with the fourth ball of a gloriously sunny morning.

Wagg finished with figures of four for 53 while skipper Rikki Clarke took three for six in six overs, including the wicket of Vikram Solanki.

Worcestershire could blame their first innings failure on the conditions which favoured swing bowling but there could be no excuses for the way they fell apart a second time.

Stephen Moore was lbw half forward with only four runs added and Derbyshire began to scent victory when Ben Smith aimed a drive at Charl Langeveldt and was caught in the gully for 14.

Graeme Hick departed to a poor shot when he lunged flat-footed at Wagg and was caught behind for six to leave his side in deep trouble at 50 for four.

Worcestershire's hopes of making Derbyshire bat again now rested on Solanki and Steve Davies but both fell in consecutive overs.

Clarke got one to come back to bowl the Worcestershire captain for 12 and then Davies fell to another poor shot when he drove without moving his feet to be caught behind for 17.

At 68 for six, it was a question of whether Derbyshire would celebrate victory before lunch and they took another big step towards finishing Worcestershire off when Clarke trapped Kabir Ali lbw for seven with a ball that cut back sharply.

Gareth Andrew completed a miserable match by bagging a pair when he edged Clarke to first slip two overs later and only some defiant blows from Gareth Batty took Worcestershire past three figures.

He top scored with 25 before he went for another forcing shot against the off-spin of Jake Needham and was bowled and the match ended in the next over when Australian fast bowler Steve Magoffin had a huge swing at Jon Clare and missed.

Derbyshire thoroughly deserved their victory which was their first by an innings since September 2005 when they beat Somerset at Taunton.

Their bowlers performed superbly with Wagg ending with match figures of eight for 119 while Langeveldt took his haul of Championship wickets to 18 in four matches.
