The Netherlands thrashed Bermuda by 172 runs in the first game of their two-match series in Rotterdam on Saturday.
Ryan ten Doeschate and Pieter Seelaar bagged three wickets apiece as Irving Romaine's team were bowled out for a paltry 143 in 38 overs. A good few of the tourists' batters got starts but failed to convert as the Dutch grabbed first blood of the series.
Steven Outerbridge (24), Lionel Cann (21) and James Celestine (20) made up the bulk of the Bermudan total but their failure to carry on from the 20s and the rest of the batting order's lack of structure eventually saw their downfall.
Earlier winning the toss and opting to field first soon proved a bad decision for Bermuda as the hosts' openers put on 154 for the first wicket. Tom de Grooth and South African-born Alexei Kervezee registered their country's highest ever first-wicket stand in ODIs, batting with good aggression coupled with wise composure. Their record stand ended when Kervezee fell to portly spinner Dwayne Leverock for 62.
Veteran Bas Zuiderent fell soon after and then de Grooth unluckily got out three short of what would have been his maiden One-day ton.
From there on in they lost wickets at fairly regular intervals but thanks to knocks from Ryan ten Doeschate (36 off 45 balls) and a quick-fire 60 off 49 deliveries from Mudassar Bukhari Holland amassed 315 for eight in their allotted overs.
Leverock ended pick of the Bermudan bowlers with figures of three for 58 in ten overs, while seventh-change Irving Romaine pitched in with two for 27.
The teams meet again on Monday.
