BCB to probe South Africa tour debacle

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said it will launch an investigation into the results of the national team during their recent tour to South Africa.

The Tigers suffered a tour whitewash losing the Test two-nil, three-nil in the ODIs and were also crushed in both T20 games.

It was only the defeats, which were expected against the Proteas, but the manner in which they occurred is of concern to the BCB with the tourists being thrashed in every game on tour.

Hasan told reporters in Dhaka: “The overall performance was very bad. Of course, we have some questions.

“We have to know if there were other problems. We all know Bangladesh can lose games, but we cannot accept the way they lost them.

“The bowlers, who were lacklustre throughout the tour, were not all to blame as the batsmen could not do anything even on a flat wicket.”

After being granted Test status by the ICC in 2000, Bangladesh have started to improve their results at home but need to seriously address their deficiencies on foreign soil.
