Farbrace flattered by Yorkshire return talk

England assistant coach Paul Farbrace has claimed he is flattered by reports linking him with a return to Yorkshire County Cricket Club as a replacement for Australian Jason Gillespie.

Gillespie returned to Australia last week after completing a successful stint with Yorkshire which saw them claim back-to-back County Championship titles.

Yorkshire director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon has said that the County’s focus is on retaining the Championship but they have some ideas on who will succeed Gillespie.

Farbrace served as Yorkshire’s second XI coach from 2012 to 2013, and is thought to be a front-runner for the vacant position.

The England assistant coach said: “It’s flattering to be linked with a club like Yorkshire, and it’s no secret that the two years I spent there were some of the happiest times I’ve had in cricket and in coaching.

“Headingley is a great place to play cricket, and Yorkshire are a huge club, not just in England but the world in terms of domestic cricket.

“Martyn Moxon was a massive pull for me when I first went there from Kent, and he’s still there.

“It is a very attractive job for whoever ends up getting it, but at this stage it’s no more than nice speculation to be involved with.”
