Hosts Sri Lanka picked up a victory in the opening game of the T20 tri-series when they beat India by five wickets at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday.

Although Kusal received little support from the rest of the batting order, Thisara Perera was there at the end with an unbeaten 22 off 10 balls to see the home side over the line with nine balls to spare.

India’s stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma was out in the first over for a duck while Suresh Raina (1) did not add much more to the total as the tourists found themselves 9/2 in the second over.
Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey (37) resurrected the innings however with a stand of 95 for the third wicket, with Dhawan going on to score 90 off 49 balls.
Rishabh Pant added a run a ball 23 and Dinesh Karthik 13 off six balls as India posted 174/5 in their 20 overs but that total was just not enough.
