Following the release of Mohammad Amir from prison, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has said that he is saddened by the existence of spot-fixing in cricket.
Misbah was elevated to the role of Pakistan captain after former skipper Salman Butt was jailed for orchestrating the 20101 spot-fixing scandal that resulted in jail time for himself, Amir and fast bowler Mohammad Asif.
"Usually you feel sad, such incidents are always very sad," rued Misbah. "But you cannot do anything about it."
Amir is currently serving a five-year ban from cricket, but the 19-year-old plans to appeal the ICC-imposed punishment in order to further his career. Misbah, however, refused to comment on whether the teenager should be allowed back into the national side.
"I'm not the concerned person," added the 37-year-old. "The people who are concerned with that will decide.
"It's totally up to the management and what ICC and the (Pakistan) cricket board decide. We have nothing to do with that. Once he is available, then we'll decide what happens."
Speaking ahead of the third Test against England in Dubai, the Pakistan captain targeted a third win for the series but expected a tougher task this time around. The hosts won the first Test by 10 wickets inside three days and the second match by 72 runs in four days.
"No doubt, England are a good team, they are number one in the world and it will not be easy because they will be more prepared, but we will try out best," he added.
The skipper had particular praise for spin pair Seed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman, who have been the chief destroyers over the two matches, collecting 17 and 12 scalps respectively.
"I think both have been bowling well for quite some time now and they create pressure on the batsmen and never give any opportunity to them out of that and on top that England batsmen were low on confidence," said Misbah, later suggesting that Pakistan will not make any changes to the starting XI.
"I am a firm believer in the balance of the team because the first priority is to win and I think we will with whatever is the best combination for the team."
