There was quite a lot of short-format cricket on the go in the past seven days, from Australia losing their two T20s to Sri Lanka, to South Africa losing the plot against the Black Caps, to England losing their hiking gear in the Himalayas.

But considering India were expected to lose the one-day series against England, and instead won it 3-2 after coming back from a game down, we should look at one of the players that made that happen: Sureeeeeesh Rrrrrrrainaaaaa!

The left-hander is often ridiculed for his short-ball weakness, and for his massive talent not living up to the hype, but he was Player of the Series here for a reason. He made four half centuries in the five matches, including two scores in the 80s this past week.

India were leading the series 2-1 heading into the fourth match in Mohali, and England did a decent job to reach 257 in their knock, thanks to half tons from three players. India were slightly off the pace at 90 for three, when Raina and Rohit Sharma joined forces.

The pair put on 68 together before Rohit departed for 83, before Raina, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja did the heavy lifting at the end. Raina was the backbone though, and made 89 not out in 79 balls to hand his side the series with two overs to spare.

The fifth match ended up being a losing cause in the end, with England's Ian Bell scoring a century in beautiful Dharamsala, where there was more interest in the Himalayan setting than the actual dead rubber match. But Raina's 83 made sure England had something to chase in the first place as they needed 227 to win.

No PotW column is complete without an honourable mention or two, and this week we must hand one to C365's esteemed editor, Jonhenry Wilson, for his hat-trick on the weekend. The left-arm seamer demolished the opposition top order via LBW and two stump removals, as his club side won by three wickets.

He credits his two-week abstinence from carbohydrates for his increase in pace (and weight loss), though his left knee is giving him a bit of trouble. Also, Mahela Jaywardene scored some runs and Thisara Perera did some good things. Whatever.
