India name three newbies and Yadav

India have named a strong squad for the limited-overs matches against England later this month, recalling fast bowler Umesh Yadav, but have also added three uncapped players to the unit.
Teen wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, medium pacer Dhawal Kulkarni and spinning all-rounder Karn Sharma have all been called up for the five-ODI and one-off T20 series in England, following on from the current Tests.
The obvious names missing from the list are all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and opening batsman Robin Uthappa. The latter had been recalled after a brilliant IPL this year, but failed to perform after that, and was disappointing for the A-side last month. Yuvraj, meanwhile, has not played since the IPL.
As for Yadav, he got a call on the back of a five-fer for India A recently, while he did play in the three ODIs against Bangladesh in June following injury. This will be a bolster for the pace attack as Ishant Sharma is injured.
The newbies may not get a go early on, but it will be a valuable experience for 19-year-old Sanju, one of the more promising keeper-batsmen in India and a star of the Rajasthan Royals side.
Dhawal, meanwhile, was the leading wicket taker in the India A series against Australia in Darwin recently, using his medium pace to good effect, as he had in the IPL. Karn Sharma brings an all-round Yuvrajness to the side,
India ODI squad: MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Ravi Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin, Stuart Binny, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Mohit Sharma, Ambhati Rayudu, Umesh Yadav, Dhawal Kulkarni, Sanju Samson, Karn Sharma
