Australia already planning World T20 assault

Australia batsman Chris Lynn says they are building a team in the shortest format to win the World T20, which will be played in two years time.

The Aussies beat New Zealand by seven wickets in the first game of a T20 tri-series tournament – also involving England – in Sydney on Saturday.

The home side’s team was made up of players that have done well in the recent Big Bash League and Lynn says they have already started to plan for the global tournament which is the only trophy that Australia have never won.

Lynn said: “This team that we’ve got now – bar a couple that are resting – can really build something special moving towards these World Cups.

“We’re hungry to turn around our form in T20. It hasn’t been great in the last couple of years.

“So we’re really keen and really hungry to get back to our winning ways in this format.”

The next game in the tri-series will be between Australia and England in Hobart on Wednesday.
