Umar Akmal not offered Pakistan contract
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have omitted batsman Umar Akmal from their list of players that received national contracts.
The 27 year-old Akmal, who has played in 16 Tests, 116 ODIs and 82 T20Is, was dropped from Pakistan’s successful Champions Trophy squad after failing two fitness tests upon arrival in the UK.
Fakhar Zaman, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan who were all instrumental as Pakistan won the Champions Trophy last month have been rewarded with central contracts for the first time.
Pakistan will enter into a new era as wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed will lead the side in all three formats of the game.
