Proteas’ injury crisis deepens as De Kock ruled out
South Africa wicketkeeper/batsman Quinton de Kock has been ruled out for the remainder of the ODI series and upcoming T20I series against India due to a left wrist injury.
De Kock sustained the injury during the second ODI against India in Centurion on Sunday, which the Proteas lost by nine wickets, and will require 2-4 weeks to make a recovery.
The CSA medical team are hoping to have the 25-year-old ready for the four-match Test series at home against Australia that starts on 1 March.

Proteas team manager, Dr Mohammed Moosajee, explained the injury: “Quinton suffered an extreme blow to the left wrist while batting in the second ODI on Sunday and felt severe pain and discomfort.
“Further investigation revealed severe bony bruising to the area, with associated swelling around the tendon in the wrist.
“This type of injury will require between 2-4 weeks to heal, which subsequently rules him out of the remainder of the ODI and T20 series against India.”
The SA selectors will not name a replacement for De Kock as Titan gloveman Heinrich Klaasen is already in the ODI squad.
The home side are already missing captain Faf du Plessis and senior batsman AB de Villiers through injury as they look to come back in the current ODI series as they find themselves two-nil down with four games still to play.
