Nottinghamshire completed an emphatic 10-wicket win over Kent in the LV County Championship at Canterbury today.

The match resumed this morning with the visitors needing just 22 runs to win after bowling Kent out for 293 yesterday to add to their poor first-innings effort of 162.

They could probably have completed the victory yesterday but for Azhar Mahmood whose knock of 116 delayed the inevitable.

Will Jefferson and Matthew Wood scored five and 17 respectively as Notts made 24 without loss.

Darren Pattinson finished the match with eight wickets while Charlie Shreck took six.

Bad light meant there had still been no play in the clash between Surrey and Lancashire at the Brit Oval while rain had prevented play at Hampshire versus Sussex at the Rose Bowl.

In Division Two, Essex completed a nine-wicket win over Northamptonshire at Chelmsford.

Resuming after lunch on 147 for six, Northamptonshire moved on to 195 on which they lost the wickets of both Steven Crook and David Wigley.

Shaun Bailey and Lance Klusener were the last men out as Northants reached 237 all out - Klusener the top scorer on 92 as David Masters finished on four for 69.

Essex then returned to the crease and reached their target of 15 for the loss of Jason Gallian.

Warwickshire appeared to be just delaying the inevitable as they reached tea still needing 318 runs to beat Worcestershire at Edgbaston.

The hosts have just three wickets left and appeared to be merely staving off defeat by the Pears.

Returning after lunch on 107 for six, the score was moved on by just two when Luke Parker was out.

By tea they had moved on to 164 without any further loss as Tony Frost (64) and Ant Botha (18) shared an unbeaten stand of 55.

Leicestershire had lost two wickets but still had victory clearly in their sights against Middlesex at Grace Road.

Resuming on 253 for eight after lunch, the visitors were all out for 258 although they were grateful to Shaun Udal who got 55.

Nadeem Malik finished with second-innings figures of five for 51.

Leicestershire were then reduced to 14 for two with the loss of Tom New and Hylton Ackerman but had moved on to 33 for two, needing another 133 runs.

There was no play between Gloucestershire and Derbyshire at Bristol due to rain.
