India and Sri Lanka look likely to have their injured players back in action when the third Test begins in Colombo on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka had to do without their best fast bowler, Lasith Malinga, during the drawn second Test, while India had both Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh out of action.

However Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara confirmed at the end of the second Test that Malinga had recovered well since playing a crucial part in the hosts' victory in the opening Test. Malinga spent much of the clash at the Sinhalese Sports Club watching on from the stands.

"It looks pretty good for the third Test," Sangakkara said. "He had a lot of stiffness and soreness after the first Test. He had a bout of fever as well.

"We'll assess his conditions as soon as we start training again. Everyone has been keeping an eye on him. If he's back for us for the third Test, it'll be a bonus."

Meanwhile India could face a selection dilemma if they have all of their players available for the third Test, which they must win if they're to share the series.

Captain MS Dhoni confirmed that Yuvraj and Gambhir were both fit again, and while Gambhir will certainly reclaim his opening spot from Murali Vijay, Yuvraj's place is in jeopardy after Suresh Raina hit a century on Test debut.

Sachin Tendulkar was unable to take the field on the final day of the second Test, but Dhoni insisted the veteran would be good to go by Tuesday.

"Sachin had a stiff groin, but as of now he looks good," said Dhoni. "Yuvraj is fit, Gautam Gambhir is also raring to go. This is as of now, but if anybody goes to sleep and gets up with something I"ll let you know tomorrow."

As for whether Yuvraj would get back into the side having underwhelmed in a 35-Test career which has been a stop-start affair, Dhoni preferred to keep his cards hidden for the moment.

"It's a perfect question to ask, which means if I answer it right now, there will be four days [before the third Test] of coverage, then on the fifth day, I will decide which guy to play," Dhoni said.

"So I would prefer to keep it out for the next three days and we just have to wait till 9.30 on the day of the start of the next Test match."
