Pakistan named their squads for this month's limited-overs series against England on Tuesday, with the uncapped Awais Zia included in the T20I fold and Hammad Azam back in the ODI unit.
The 25-year-old Zia graduates to the international fold on the back of some solid form in domestic cricket. The left-handed Rawalpindi batsman has scored 455 runs in 18 Twenty20 matches at a hefty strike-rate of 146.30.
All-rounder Azam has been afforded the chance to build on the five one-dayers he accrued against the West Indies and Ireland last year.
Taufeeq Umar and the injured Mohammad Talha are the only men not to be retained from the Test squad, which wrapped up a three-nil series whitewash over the English.
Shahid Afridi, meanwhile, rejoins the limited-overs fold. The former captain was due to play for the Dhaka Gladiators in the Bangladesh Premier League, but later snubbed the contract, citing a preference to play for his country over the Twenty20 club as his reasoning.
"Unfortunately the dates of the league conflict directly with the one-day and Twenty20 series against England. So, I have decided to skip the Bangladesh event as national duty is more important," said Afridi.
"I am looking forward to that series against England, so obviously it was not a difficult choice at all. I am available to play in foreign leagues only when not required on national duty."
