A quadriceps injury has sidelined fast bowler Chris Morris from the reaminder of South Africa's three-match Twenty20 International series against New Zealand.
Morris made his debut in the first T20I at Kingsmead in Durban on Friday, when he clinched figures of two for 19 in 3.4 overs before leaving the field for treatment.
"Chris will need a recovery period of at least two to three weeks after injuring his left quad during the game; that effectively rules him out of the series. When he was bowling his fourth over he went for the effort ball, he tried to bowl a short one, that is where he aggravated the injury," said team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee.
Fellow right-armer Morne Morkel, who was originally scheduled to join the squad for the third and final fixture, has been called up as a replacement ahead of Sunday's second T20 in East London.
Left-arm seamers Lonwabo Tsotsobe and Wayne Parnell are also nursing respective ankle and wrist injuries.
