Batsman Kevin Pietersen has not been named in England's Twenty20 International and ODI squads for February's tour of New Zeaalnd.
Pietersen, however, is expected to play in the Test series in March before joining the Delhi Daredevils for the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League in April.
Spinner Graeme Swann, fast bowler James Anderson and batsman Jonathan Trott have all been recalled to the ODI squad after being rested for the series against India.
The T20I unit has brought two changes, with seamers Stuart Broad and Steven Finn returning from respective heel and back injuries. Batsman Jonny Bairstow, who left the tour of India early due to family reasons, has also been included.
"Kevin will miss the limited-overs tour of New Zealand, with Graeme Swann missing the T20 leg of the tour. This approach also provides an opportunity for talented young players to gain more international experience, which will be important for their development and the development of England sides in the future," said national selector Geoff Miller.
The Black Caps and Englishmen will meet for three T20I and three ODIs between 9 and 23 February. A three-Test series will follow in March.
