The West Indies have included prodigal son Ramnaresh Sarwan in their squad for the One Day International series against Australia, 18 months after the batsman last played for the side.

Sarwan was discarded in 2010 after it was claimed he lacked the desire and physical fitness to continue in the team. He withdrew his name from contention and promptly took the WICB to court for saying he wasn't committed and in September this year he won the case.

Since being dropped, SArwan has been playing for Leicestershire in the English county competitions, and performed well enough to find himself recalled. He was asked to return after Marlon Samuels got injured while playing in the Big Bash League.

With the all-rounder missing from the five-game series, spinner Narsingh Deonarine has also been added to the squad, along with Sarwan, so make up for the gap in both departments.

Otherwise, the usual suspects of Kieron Pollard, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine and Darren Bravo are all accounted for, while fast bowler Kemar Roach is back from injury. There is no space for Fidel Edwards.

The first ODI will be played on 1 February in Perth.
