Former Australia batsman Ricky Ponting has agreed to play for English county side Surrey for two months later this year, providing back up for when South Africa captain Graeme Smith goes on international duty.
Ponting, who retired from the international game at the end of last year, was delighted with the chance to play in England again, and will feature in June and July. He will not be rusty as he has continued to play for Tasmania.
The 38-year-old told BBC London 94.9: "I'm exceptionally excited to come to such a proud and traditional club as Surrey.
"I've only had the opportunity to play county cricket once before and it was a short little stint that I had at Somerset [in 2004].
"I always said after that I'd love to come back and play some more county cricket and I'm thankful Surrey have given me the opportunity."
