Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq named two reasons for his side's series whitewash against South Africa, saying they didn't have enough Test experience, and they were unused to playing on fast tracks.

The Proteas won the third Test by an innings and 18 runs at Centurion, adding to the comprehensive wins in the first two matches. South Africa's pace bowlers were dominant in all three games, with Pakistan's batsmen unable to cope with the bounce and speed.

Added to the conditions, Misbah rued his country's lack of Tests compared to other big nations, which is mostly due to the fact that they can't play on home soil and need to find other venues to play at, usually in the UAE.

The skipper lamented, recalling their mere six Tests in 2012: "Not playing as much Test cricket as other countries is a concern for us, and whoever does the scheduling should consider this.

"We are only playing four or five Tests a year. That's a big worry for developing good Test players and for making sure we have enough players for Pakistan.

"We also need different pitches to play on. When we go to Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and England, it is an area of concern.

"We have to really consider that we need to get good sporting pitches for fast bowlers. That will help us with technique and to adjust to the conditions here."

He continued: "The major difference between the two sides is the conditions. When the number one team is playing in their own conditions, everything is going their way.

"They can exploit their conditions because they know how to bat and bowl here. Conditions really affected the results. They beat us in all departments."

The sides now move on to a two-game T20 series, followed by five ODIs.
