With one eye on the pacey wickets in South Africa, Pakistan have included uncapped fast bowlers Mohammad Irfan and Ehsan Adil in their Test squad for the Proteas series.

A favourite of those who like to bet on cricket, the 2.16m Irfan, who is hardly a rookie at the age of 30, wins his call-up to the Test squad on the back of some impressive performances for Pakistan during the recent one-day and Twenty20 internationals away in India.

The selectors will no doubt be hoping he will be able to extract some extra bounce due to his height and the nature of the South African tracks.

Adil, who is 11 years Irfan's junior, was part of Pakistan's Under-19 team at the 2012 World Cup Australia and he has taken 56 wickets in 10 first-class matches this season.

Umar Gul and Junaid Khan are the other fast bowlers in the squad while left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman returns after being banned for a failed dope test last year.

On the batting side, uncapped left-hander Haris Sohail and Faisal Iqbal remain part of the squad despite not playing during the Sri Lanka tour while left-handed opener Nasir Jamshed, who has yet to play a Test, also gets the nod for the Asian outfit who go into the series against The Proteas as outsiders with bookmakers like Paddy Power.

Sarfraz Ahmed is the only wicketkeeper in the squad with Adnan Akmal, as well as his brothers Kamran and Umar, not part of the touring party.

Pakistan will play three Tests, two Twenty20 internationals and five ODIs against the Proteas.
