Batting consultant Inzamam-ul-Haq will not be a part of Pakistan's coach staff during next month's series against the Proteas.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashrafhad last month confirmed Inzamam's services for the visit to South Africa, but he was not reappointed after the recent limited-overs series in India.

"We have engaged the services of Inzamam ahead of the India tour. He won't travel to India with the team but will help the batsmen in the camp as batting consultant. He will be part of the touring unit that goes next year to South Africa," said Ashraf in December.

The PCB's initial plan involved the recruitment of specialist coaches for batting, bowling and fielding, but then gave head coach Dav Whatmore the additional responsibility of batting coach. They later forwent that decision, with a batting coach employed on a series-by-series rather than full-time basis.

Pakistan and South Africa will meet for three Tests, two Twenty Internationals and five ODIs. The tour gets underway with a four-day fixture between a South African Invitation XI and the tourists at Buffalo Park in East London in late January.
