The Pakistan Cricket Board have appointed former leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as a bowling consultant.
Mushtaq, who recently held a similar role with the England and Wales Cricket Board, signed a contract – which has seen him employed with immediate effect – on Monday.
New head coach Waqar Younis, who has succeeded Australian Dav Whatmore and hired on a two-year contract, approved Ahmed's arrival – after the PCB coach selection committee's recommendation.
The PCB confirmed erstwhile off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who was associated with the Bangladesh Cricket Board earlier this year, had been shortlisted for the vacancy.
"Acting on the recommendation of the coach selection committee, the chairman, Najam Sethi, has appointed former Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as the national spin bowling coach with immediate effect," read a press release from the PCB.
"Mushtaq signed the contract with PCB on Monday morning and has taken charge of his position. Until recently Mushtaq was holding a similar position with the England and Wales Cricket Board."
Younis and Ahmed's opening assignment will bring a one-off Twenty20 International, three ODIs and two Tests against the Australia in the United Arab Emirates between 3 October and 1 November.
The 2015 World Cup campaign in Australasia, where Pakistan have been pooled with India, West Indies, Zimbabwe, UAE, South Africa and Ireland, will also be high on the agenda.
