- Made the step up to full-time professional cricketer at the age of 35 and was included in Australia's squad to tour India within a year as they looked to find a replacement for Shane Warne.
- Injury sent him home before the tour began and he required surgery, but a timely five-wicket Sheffield Shield haul earned him a place on the tour of South Africa.
