Career summary
- Test debut v England at Wellington, February 1997.
- ODI debut v Sri Lanka at Christchurch, March 1997.
- T20I debut v Kenya at Durban, September, 2007
- Made his Test debut at just 18 years of age.
- A stress fracture to his back and a slump in form through 2003 and 2004 did not diminish his reputation as a world class bowler.
- Having filled in as Kiwi skipper in the absence of Stephen Fleming, Vettori was handed the role on a full time basis in 2007.
- In 2009 Vettori became only the second New Zealander to take 300 wickets, following in the footsteps of Richard Hadlee.
- In August 2009 Vettori became the eighth player in history to have taken 300 wickets and scored 300 runs.
- Briefly filled in as player-coach following Andy Moles' exit in late 2009.
- In 2009 Vettori joined the New Zealand team selction panel.
