- A genuine pace bowler who rejuvenated the New Zealand attack when he first roared onto the international scene.
- Has a reputation for being injury-prone, after suffering numerous stress fractures to his feet and back.
- Took 6 for 22 against Australia in the 2003 World Cup, and 10 for 99 in a Test against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo.
- Became the fastest New Zealand bowler to reach 50 wickets in ODI's and for 50 Test wickets, a record which has since been surpassed.
- A fast, inswinging yorker is his most dangerous weapon.
- More injury worries caused problem in the 2006/07 winter but has managed a sustained run in the side ahead of the World Cup and finsihed the tournament as the most economical bowler.
- Joined the rebel Indian Cricket League in 2008 and despite having initially recieved clearance from NZC to do so, had his national contract terminated as a result.
- After being released from his ICL contract and severing al ties with the league in mid-2009 he made his return to mainstream cricket and was rewarded with a national contract for the 09/10 season.
- Despite impressing on his return to Test cricket in late 2009, Bond retired from the five-day game in order to prolong his career in the shorter forms of the game.
- Was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for US$750,000.
