- Having played for the National U-15, U-17 and U-19 teams, his full international call up came in July 2005.

- He had a very successful Under 19 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2004, including a score of 117 against South Africa at Narayanganj.

- He subsequently scored half-centuries in each of the two Tests and two one-day matches of Sri Lanka A's tour of Pakistan.
