Lasith Malinga and Rishabh Pant break T20 and Test records
Lasith Malinga and Rishabh Pant have broken T20 and Test records for Sri Lanka and India.
Malinga became the all-time leading wicket-taker in Twenty20 international cricket as he claimed his 99th scalp in Sri Lanka’s loss to New Zealand.
The seamer cleaned up Colin de Grandhomme to achieve the feat in his 74th T20 international, 25 games fewer than previous record holder Shahid Afridi.
Congratulations to Lasith Malinga on becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket. He has broken my friend @SAfridiOfficial’s long standing record of 98 wickets. Certainly an inspiration for the younger generation 🙌🇱🇰 pic.twitter.com/GXfe1QF6QA

The veteran bowler returned figures of 23 for 2 in his four overs, but it was not enough as New Zealand won by 5 wickets and lead the three match seris 1-0.
Rishabh Pant also wrote his name into the record books during the second Test against West Indies in Kingston.
The 21-year-old wicket-keeper became the fastest Indian wicket-keeper to claim 50 dismissals in Test cricket, surpassing former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Pant claimed his 50th victim in his 11th Test, as he took an easy catch to dismiss Kraigg Brathwaite. Dhoni took 15 Tests to reach the milestone.
