- Test debut v Zimbabwe at Bulawayo - November 1999.
- ODI dedbut v Zimbabwe at Bulawayo - December 1999.
- His international career started with a bang, as he hit 163 not out against Zimbabwe in just his second Test Match.
- After a couple of years out of the team, he came back in 2003 to score hundreds against England and Australia in quick succession.
- His tidy off-spin has been regularly called-upon in the one day game, and he helped spin South Africa to defeat in 2004 and Bangladesh the following year.
- In the first VB Series final against Australia at Adelaide in February 2006, he ran out four Australian batsmen in Sri Lanka's victory.
- Was the 2009 World Twenty20 player of the tournament.
