Career summary

- Test debut v New Zealand at Christchurch - December 2006.

- ODI debut v Australia at Colombo - August 1999.

- Made his ODI debut at 19 and began with a promising 54 against Australia.

- Dropped out of contention following the tour of England in 2002, but over the next four years showed the selectors what they had been missing and was drafted back into the squad by Tom Moody after prolific run-scoring in the domestic game.

- Still only 27, he finally made his Test debut in December 2006 against New Zealand, scoring an unbeaten 152 in his second Test.

- His maiden one-day century followed in India in February 2007.
