Career summary
- Test debut v South Africa at Cape Town in March 2006
- ODI debut v ICC World XI at Melbourne (DS) in October 2005.
- Tall right-arm fast medium bowler.
- Took 40 wickets in 2004-05 for New South Wales as they won the Pura Cup.
- Called up to 2005 Ashes tour as cover for Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee.
- Made a superb Test debut against South Africa in March 2006 taking a total of 9 for 89, and went on to be Australia's leading wicket taker of the series with 20 wickets at just 15.85.
- Starred in the side's 5-0 whitewash of England in 2006-07 and was called up to the World Cup squad after Brett Lee pulled out.
- An injury-plagued 2008 was followed with a return to Australia's Test side in time for the 2009 Ashes.
- After missing out in the first three Tests, he took 3 for 92 in an innings victory at Headingley, but his inclusion for the decider at The Oval at the expense of a spinner ultimately cost Australia the Ashes.
- A back injury kept him out of the 2009/10 home season, leading to speculation that retirement was imminent.
