- Lumb, the son of former Yorkshire opener Richard, joins the long list of players born in South Africa who have forced their way into the England set-up.
- - After a few consistent seasons with Yorkshire, Lumb was called up to the ECB National Academy squad in 2004. However, that was followed up by some disappointing displays and that prompted him to move to Hampshire in 2007.
- The move revitalised his career, especially in the shorter format of the game. He scored 442 runs at 44.20 in the Twenty20 Cup and he was rewarded with an IPL contract with the Rajasthan Royals. A few cameo appearances led to a call-up to the England squad for the World Twenty20.
